Joan Snyder initially gained recognition in the 1970s with the debut of her “Stroke” series, which effectively subverted the male-dominated legacy of abstract expressionism. In “The Summer Becomes a Room,” Canada unveils 15 new and recently-completed large-scale canvases by Snyder in the celebrated artist’s first solo show with the gallery.
