A group show brings together self-portraits from nearly 30 contemporary artists. Rather than focusing on superficial accuracy, curators Patty Horing and Deborah Brown chose works conveying each artist's sense of "self"—that is, as more of a metaphysical concept rather than a literal depiction.

In other words, given the context of "the age of distraction," the emphasis here is on artists "whose works are rooted in feeling and self-expression rather than 'effect' and affectation."
