Staging a custom-built website as an online viewing platform for the occasion, Alan Prazniak reveals a new body of work in “Modern Country,” his fourth solo show with Geary.
The Brooklyn-based artist originally intended this group of paintings to reflect a year of his travels; however, as time went on, various other ideas drifted into the compositions, complicating the project’s initial vision.
Many of the paintings in “Modern Country” depict American landscapes, from deserts to shorelines. But Prazniak’s swirling, impressionist style lends them unexpected depth. The website also features a video documenting Prazniak at his studio.
