On view in the gallery and online, Sam Falls’s second solo show with 303 Gallery showcases new paintings and ceramics from the Los Angeles-based artist. Echoing his recent installation on the High Line—a series of arches embedded with fossilized flora—Falls’s paintings were made en plein air, and utilized natural materials in their creation. His ceramics feature human forms, a rib cage, a skull, imbued with plant matter—surely a comment on how connected to the natural world we all are, even in this era of ecological destruction.
